Guest Preacher: Rev. Paula Porter Leggett
Rev. Paula Porter Leggett will be our guest preacher at both services on July 14th
Introducing Rev. Paula Porter Leggett…
Paula is a retired priest of this diocese who calls herself 'itinerant,' meaning she finds herself in different congregations from week to week. One of the original team that brought EFM ("Education for Ministry" - education for lay ministry) to this Diocese, she has been a mentor for the program for almost thirty years, first for local groups and, for the last decade, as an on-line mentor for groups made up of learners from across Canada. While in parish ministry, she was rector at St. Faith's on 57th for twelve years before experience ministry outside Vancouver in Langley, and then in Richmond centre. Most recently she has served as the office administrator at Holy Trinity Cathedral (part-time) gaining yet another perspective of the Diocese. She is a trained Reiki practitioner (a form of healing-energetic prayer). Paula is also known for her love of music in the life of the church and, as a companion on three trips to Taizé with youth, is always delighted to be asked to participate in or help parishes create Taizé style worship. She has been an Associate of the Sisters of St. John the Divine for thirteen years and welcomes questions about how monastics give support to the spiritual life of non-monastics. Her love of music, the Scripture and Tradition of the Anglican Church, and God's reconciling ministry with all creation continue to challenge her as she explores what ministry in 'retirement years' looks like. Paula and The Revd Richard Leggett celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this summer, and celebrate three grown and 'liberated' children and their partners. They are lovers of animals and looking forward to adding a dog back to their household sometime this year.
