Chancel Guild Seeking New Members! Pt.3
St. Mary's Chancel Guild needs new members to help with the important work of preparing for weekly services and special celebrations. Read about Deborah’s experience as a long-time team member.

In 2007, I joined a bike group. At the time, the group "Spokeswomen" totalled eleven women, four of whom had at least an association with St. Mary's (and two were added later!) One of those women, Jane Rush Leblanc, since deceased, was a member of the Chancel Guild. She often suggested rescheduling our Saturday morning bike rides because she needed to "polish the Lord’s silver” (her words). Another Spokeswoman had invited me to attend services a few times, and a little later, Jane asked if I would like to join Chancel Guild. I think the ‘behind the scenes’ aspect appealed to me. After I had said yes (and it was too late to rescind), Jane handed me an enormous file containing the processes and history of the liturgy of setting the Lord’s table. I never read much of it, but my Group II leader was a wonderful teacher, and I thoroughly enjoyed coming on Saturday mornings to set up. I hope our numbers can increase so that we can work in gregarious but industrious teams again. - Deborah Spafford
